Some of these new dessert items include:
Caramel Apple Empanada: A crispy golden pastry pocket filled with chunks of warm apples in creamy caramel sauce.
Churro: Taco Bell’s version of the Mexican donut, dusted in cinnamon sugar and served warm.
Cookie Sandwich: Two golden, delicious triangle-shaped chocolate chip cookies with vanilla cream filling in between.
Some of these items have already been in select locations for years such as the Caramel Apple Empanada, but now they will get the chance to shine… or fatten the guts of consumers nationwide.
On top adding desert options, Taco Bell is also adding something called the XXL Steak Nachos, which feature a “triple portion of thick cut steak piled with melted cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo and tortilla chips.” If you’re not a fan of the Taco Bell adaptation of “steak”, there is a “chicken option as well. XXL is the marketing name for the nachos, but the chain says they are “restaurant-sized”, which actually means that one person alone should simply not eat that much food in one sitting.
In the event that you were wondering just how many calories these new items contain….
Here is a little breakdown for you before you decide to “run to the border” and indulge:
Caramel Apple Empanada: 310
Cookie Sandwich: 390
XXL Steak Nachos: 1160
The taco bell desert options are not shocking, or “over the top” in terms of dessert calories. The XXX Steak nachos on the other hand… That is one that should not be consumed on a “calorie counting” lunch.
