Hot, cheesy appetizers are a nice alternative to the standard football fare that’s typically put out for the big game. Chips, dip, and wings have their place, but these appetizers are even better—and incredibly easy.
Baked Brie
Brie en Croute is an elegant appetizer and not terribly difficult to make, but this simple baked brie is even easier, both to prepare and to eat.
1 - 8” wheel of brie
½ c apricot or cherry preserves
1 c chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350̊. Trim the top rind off the brie and discard. Place brie in a small ovenproof dish, and spread top with preserves and chopped nuts. Bake until brie is melted, 10 minutes or so.
Serve with crackers or sliced French bread.
Hot Herbed Provolone
½ lb provolone round (not sliced)
1 tsp dried oregano, crumbled
½ tsp crushed red pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
2 T olive oil
Preheat oven to 400̊. Set cheese in a small baking dish. Sprinkle with oregano, red pepper, and garlic. Drizzle with olive oil and bake until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes. Serve with crackers or sliced French bread.
