The Power of Grape Jelly

I’m always on the lookout for something “new”. Some sort of unique flavor combination, some new idea in food, some new technique for cooking, something… anything new. Recently when I stopped into a small diner for dinner I found something that fit that bill.

It didn’t involve an anti-griddle or sous-vide cooker. Its involved a simple jar of grape jelly. Going to prove that sometime the best things happen when you least expect them. The combo on the sandwich went something like this – Grape jelly on the bottom bun, topped with seared turkey, bacon, spicy peppers, grilled onions and a little mayo. Yes it does sound like “drunk” food. However I was stone cold sober when I ate it, and it was amazing! It makes me want to break out other non-suspecting condiments on future sandwich creations! One of my favorite Wichita Restaurants.
